VAUXHALL PARK STROLL - McIlwraith Field Naturalists.
This late-winter walk is the first of several along the Thames River as part of the London Public Library/River Project Celebration. Meet the leader at the intersection of Egerton St and Homan St, accessible by traveling south of Hamilton Rd on Egerton and turning left onto Homan just north of the Thames River. Parking is possible along Homan St. Call 519-438-5879 for more information.
Our outdoor events are perfect excuses to get away for a few hours and visit natural sites in and around London. There are always MFN members along who are able to help with tricky identifications and are willing to share their knowledge. It is useful to bring along binoculars, pencil and notebook, field guides, etc. (but don't burden yourself too much). Families with children are welcome on field trips, but pets should be left at home.

AYLMER WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA - McIlwraith Field Naturalists.
Meet the leader in front of the main viewing stand behind the Police College to view Tundra Swans and other migrating waterfowl. We will then proceed to walk a paved trail to look for other early spring birds. This is an opportunity to slow climate change by arranging your own carpooling. Aylmer WMA is approximately 4 km northeast of Aylmer on Hacienda Rd and adjoins the Ontario Police College . Call 519-438-5879 for more details.

Cinema Politica London presents Rainforest Agribusiness Campaign . Venue Landon Library . The Rainforest Agribusiness Campaign is challenging one of the fastest growing threats to the world's tropical forests: the rapid expansion of industrial agriculture. Fueled in part by the growing demand for biofuels, U.S. agribusiness giants ADM, Bunge and Cargill are establishing soy and palm oil operations in some of the planet's most biodiverse forests. Soy has become a major contributor to deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest and its surrounding wooded savanna, the Cerrado, while palm oil plantations are expanding at a rate of 2.5 million acres per year into the tropical forests of Indonesia , Malaysia and Papua New Guinea

Join an expert birder on this all-day venture to Long Point to view many species and large flocks of migrating waterfowl. Bring a lunch and dress warmly. Participants must provide their own transportation. Meet in the southwest corner of the parking lot at the Flying J on Highbury Ave just south of Hwy 401. Rain Garden Workshop Presented by Friends of the Coves, Landon Library, Wortley Road
Stormwater runoff is one of the largest causes of pollution in the Coves and other natural waterways. Come learn how using simple gardening methods you can conserve clean stormwater and protect our waterways from pollution. Workshop topics will include a general overview of the issue of stormwater runoff pollution, how to plan for and build a rain garden and what native plants are appropriate for use in a rain garden.
