Earth Hour in London, Ontario

Saturday March 29 from 8-9pm is Earth Hour.

What is Earth Hour?
Earth Hour originated as an event promoted by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Australia, which asked households and businesses to turn off their lights and non-essential electrical appliances for one hour of a March evening to promote electricity conservation and thus lower carbon emissions. Created to bring awareness to one of the greatest threats our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming.

This simple act has captured the hearts and minds of people all over the world. As a result, at 8pm March 29, 2008 London will join millions of people in some of the world's major cities, including Copenhagen, Toronto, Chicago, Melbourne, Brisbane and Tel Aviv to unite and switch off for Earth Hour.
