Tomato Fest 2007 hosted by the City Farming Project
Join in the ‘art of growing’. Tomato tasting and judging. View over 34 varieties of heirlooms grown and their various tomato support systems. Stroll in the antique shop for other heirlooms! Local chefs will create tomato recipes for sampling. Bring your favorite recipes to share - all will be entered into a draw. Enjoy & join in with musical guest - Sheila Horrel Drum Circle (extra drums available for your use or bring your own). Meals will be on sale - proceeds to the project. Bring your lawn chairs and eating utensils - as this is a litter-less event.
Suggested Donation: $5.00/per person
Directions: Located on Wharncliffe Road S watch for the Weldwood Antique sign, just past the old home depot past Southdale Rd. on the left.

Autumn Offerings - Slow Food London
Slow Food London will be holding our second annual fund-raising event - Autumn Offerings - which is being held on Friday, September 21st, 2007 at Fanshawe Pioneer Village. Cocktails begin at 6:30 pm and dinner at 7:30 pm. This year we are doing a 5-course tasting menu. We have a number of local chefs involved, each providing a sumptuous plate for everyone to enjoy! Some of the participants are: The Only on King, Chancey Smith's, On the Fork, and Elegant Epicure. We also have Chef Michele Lenhardt, formerly of the AGO in Toronto, on our roster for the evening. She has recently moved to this area and is hoping to get involved with Slow Food London. For this event, Chef Lenhardt will be preparing our dessert. Lailey Vineyard Wines has also offered to participate. They will be supplying a variety of wines that have been perfectly paired by wine-maker Derek Barnett with each course.
Our tasting menu is looking like this:
Heirloom tomato consommé***Free run organic chicken and smoked ham hock terrine with split pea puree and country toasts *** Gnocchi with zucchini "pearls" and sautéed corn in a corn broth and truffle oil drizzle ***Fresh Ontario perch fillet wrapped in organic purple Viking potato threads with a salad of Soiled Reputation Farm's pursalane and French fillet beans with lemongrass dressing. ***Niagara Reisling poached pear with a bittersweet chocolate sauce and an almond biscotti ***

Compost Value Day hosted by London Composts
30 litres of compost for $2. While Supplies last. Bring a container and shovel to Quixtar Canada - 375 Exeter Road at White Oak Road. Proceeds go to London & Area Food Bank, Memorial Boys & Girls Club, St, Leonard Society, and London Composts.
